How Should You Meditate?

What form of meditation is right for you?

Do you like to meditate? It’s something I dabble in more than occasionally, but I still should do it more. There is nothing like a good meditation session to set my mind at ease, especially if I’m doing it fairly regularly.

I’ll be the first to admit that meditating doesn’t come easy for me. Does it come easy for anyone? Probably not. But I am definitely not wired to sit on a cushion silently most days. So I try to get in my meditation fix any way I can. Some hardcore people may say that a walking or guided meditation doesn’t count, but at times, it’s all I can do. I did a nice guided meditation this morning, for example, and it really took the edge off what had been a stressful night last night 🙂

Needless to say, my own dealings with meditation inspired my latest quiz: How Should You Meditate? Give it a go, and let me know what you get. I’d also be curious to know if you meditate or do anything else similar to meditation – like prayer, yoga, etc!

New Quiz: How Are You Psychic?

Have you ever wondered if you were psychic? Or are you one of those rare people who “just knows” you have psychic gifts? I have never thought that I was psychic (I’m too much a doofus to be one), and I’m not honestly sure if anyone can be psychic. That being said, I think our intuition and sixth sense can surprise all of us in interesting ways. And I thought that could be a fun topic to explore.

How has your sixth sense or intuition guided you correctly? I know for myself, I’ve occasionally been able to predict what happened, even though the chances of it happening felt very small at the time. I’ve also been able to sense that something was “off” with a person I’ve just met, even though I couldn’t pinpoint it. (This is a six sense that I wish I had had more often in my past!) And when I was in junior high, I used to be pretty good at guessing who was calling – before the era of caller ID 😉 I don’t know if I would call any of these things psychic occurrences, but they are definitely examples of my intuition working overtime.

I recently came across an article about the different types of psychic powers people have, and I thought it would be an interesting topic for a quiz. This quiz tells you what sort of psychic powers you’d be most likely to have. And if you’re like me and skeptical about psychic abilities – don’t worry! This quiz is just as much about intuition.

What Color Are Your Thoughts?

Is it strange to say that I imagine my thoughts as a particular color? I can’t help it… I assign a color to everything! I think there is some truth to thoughts having colors, at least metaphorically speaking. When people are angry, we are said to be “seeing red.” And feeling down is also referred to as “feeling blue.”

This blog post predates the Taylor Swift song, “Red,” but I had to come back and edit to say that this is exactly what I was talking about. She talks about how being with a guy was red, losing him was blue, and missing him was dark gray. I suppose one could argue that these aren’t exactly thoughts, but I think it goes along nicely with that I’m trying to do with this quiz.

I personally see my thoughts at sunshine yellow or sky blue when I’m hyper. When I’m focused, my thoughts are a nice gray, like the cloudy days I like to work under. When I’m optimistic, my thoughts are green… the kind of green you find in nature When I’m feeling dark, my thoughts are (obviously) black. When I’m sad, I actually imagine my thoughts as bright white – so intense that they are overwhelming me.

Anyway, my habit of coloring my thoughts led me to write this new quiz: What Color Are Your Thoughts? This is a great quiz to take periodically to see what color your thoughts are taking these days. I know my result changes over time, and even sometimes over the course of the day. You may find the same thing for you.
