Have you ever been to a dream event? Did it live up to the hype? I have been to a couple, but I think that they were more once in a lifetime experiences.
Today’s quiz will tell you which dream event you might enjoy the most: What Dream Event Should You Attend? Let me know what your result is and if you might like that event! And since today’s friday, I have some Friday Five questions you can answer here or over at your own blog 🙂
Have you been to a dream event? Did it live up to its hype?
What is your current dream event that you’d like to attend?
What big event do you like to watch on television?
Would you rather go to one big dream event or many little fun but ordinary events?
After a big day, how do you usually feel? Happy? Exhausted? Inspired? Let down?
Do you like the ocean? I’m not just talking about the beach here (although that’s awfully nice too!). I’m talking about the deep blue sea – an amazingly beautiful, mysterious ecosystem. If you think about it, the ocean is really a whole other world. I became fascinated by the ocean as a teenager, when I would go for long swims as deep in as the adults would let me. It was so tranquil to be away from the crowded beach all on my own. I can imagine that being out in a boat in the middle of the ocean would be even more special and peaceful.
When I was growing up, I knew a lot of classmates who wanted to become marine biologists. It was funny for that to be true in my hometown, because we were over a thousand miles away from any ocean. I think a lot of people wanted that career because it meant they got to spend a lot of time in the ocean. Now that I’m older, I see how ideal that sounds… but I’m not sure I have it in me to do the training. (Who would write all the quizzes???)
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to write a quiz about an ocean fantasy life. I have always dreamed of being a mermaid, and being a pirate sounds pretty cool too (at least being a friendly pirate). Take What Sea Person Are You? to see how you might enjoy the sea. Comment below and let me know what you think of your result!

Do you like video games? I loved video games when I was a kid. It was the golden age of arcade games, and I played as often as I could. Luckily, I could find machines everywhere, and it was very easy to sneak a game in before a movie or while I was waiting for pizza. Back then video games felt very democratic. Anyone with a quarter could play, and it wasn’t that difficult to learn them.
As video games got more complex, I wasn’t so sure that I liked them any longer. When fancy console and PC games became the standard, I actually kind of forgot that I used to like video games so much. With a few exceptions (like Katamari Damacy and a few sports games), I just didn’t have the time to devote to learning each new game. If you had asked me a few years ago, I would probably have told you that I wasn’t a big video game fan at all.
Lately, I rediscovered video games that were easier to pick up and play. Between flash games, smart phone games, and (yes!) a local video game arcade, I have remembered what I love about playing video games… the more casual and fun aspects! I’m starting to believe that almost anyone can like video games – you just have to find the right type of game. That’s what has inspired my latest quiz: What Type of Video Game Are You? Comment below to let me know what you got, and what you think of video games in general.
Are you a party person? I’m guessing that most of my fellow introvert readers don’t exactly love parties – at least, not traditional ones. I sometimes like parties. It depends on the type of party and the mood that I’m in. I will admit that parties aren’t the easiest for a hardcore introvert like myself. However, I have met some interesting people at parties over the years, especially the more low key, conversational ones.
A friend recently suggested to me that some people who don’t like going to parties may actually really enjoy hosting parties. This makes a lot of sense to me. I’m most comfortable around people I know, so hosting my own party would ensure that. Also, hosting a party keeps the host quite busy, which can be a good distraction from social pressure.
I think whether it’s fun to host a party or not comes down to what type of party you’re hosting. More introverted types like myself may enjoy a quiet affair with close friends. More extroverted people (like my best friend in high school) may prefer a party full of surprises and lots of guests. I personally love the idea of a party built around a theme or event, so that people have something to naturally talk about.
Thinking about the types of parties people could host depending on their personalities was an interesting exercise for me. It led to my latest quiz, What Kind of Party Should You Throw? Let me know what you got on this one, as well as what you think of parties in general.

Are you interested in time travel? I have been interested in time travel for a long time – ever since I saw the Back to the Future movies growing up. I loved to imagine how exciting it would be to see when your parents grew up… or when your children would grow up. I was immediately hooked on the idea of traveling through time.
Once I grew up, I became a much nerdier fan of science fiction, and time travel is still as intriguing to me. I’m fascinated with visiting all sorts of past events, as well as exploring the future. Even more fascinating to me is the idea of alternate histories, crossing timelines, and changing the way events unfold. I love to see how different writers deal with the philosophy of time travel. And I like to come up with my own predictions about what would happen.
I’ve still think I’d like to travel in time, but it would be scary! I’d be afraid of doing something dumb and changing the world forever. I’d also be afraid to see how the future turns out – although curiosity would get the better of me. I’d be most excited to see if history describes the past accurately.
Would you like to travel through time and space? If you would, then take my latest quiz: When Should You Travel in Time? It will tell you when you should most travel to. You’ll have to figure out the where part 😉

Do you love to play hooky? Now, I don’t want to be a bad influence on anyone, but I used to love to play hooky when I was in school. There, I said it! And I’m sure I would have played hooky from work a ton if I hadn’t gotten this quiz writing gig early on 😉 I’m having too much fun to play hooky these days, although I do take an afternoon off on occasion to clear my head. Luckily, my boss doesn’t mind. She’s pretty cool…
When I used to play hooky, this was about the time of year I’d start doing it. The first unseasonably warm day, and I just couldn’t be in school any longer. After a long winter, you want to be out and about for a sweet, sunny day. Luckily, I had some teachers who were nice enough to take us outside when the weather started getting nice, but if they didn’t, I was very tempted to skip school. And when I was in college, forget about it! I almost never showed up on a nice day.
Whenever I played hooky, I tried to get out and do something fun. I used to love that extra naughty feel of being at the mall when I was supposed to be elsewhere. Growing up in a small city meant this wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but I was careful never to get caught. I miss the trill of being somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be and the taste of eating a forbidden ice cream cone.
What about you? Do you or did you love to play hooky? Then you might love my quiz, The Playing Hooky Test You’ll get a full personality profile based on your playing hooky style. Take a few minutes to play hooky from what you’re doing and fill it out 🙂
What do you get on the The Playing Hooky Test? Let me know if your result fits you. Do you like to play hooky? When was the last time you took a mental health day?
Have you ever dreamed of running off to join the circus? When I was a kid, this was a huge dream of mine. I still think it would be a lot of fun to be part of a circus, although I think I’d prefer something like Cirque du Soleil that didn’t involve animals 🙂 I’d love being in front of a crowd, as long as I had my act perfectly down. I would love the challenge of performing, and it would be a fun way to see the world.
I’m not sure if I have the makings of an acrobat these days (I think you have to train pretty early for that), but I’m sure that I could do something in the circus. Hmmm, let’s see. I suppose I could be an emcee. That’s a pretty lame circus role though. Maybe I could be a trapeze artist if I was brave enough. Anything but a clown!
I have a lot of friends who totally could join the circus. Maybe you know people like this as well. Folks who juggle, hula hoop, ride unicycles in their off time… it’s way cool! I love the new trend of doing crazy, circus like activities to exercise and be out in the world. Even if I don’t participate, it’s a lot of fun to watch. And proof that it’s never too late to join the circus – in one way or another.
What about you? Do you think you have the makings of a circus performer? Take What Circus Act Should You Perform? to find out. 4 out of 5 psychologists agree that this quiz is the perfect antidote to the mid week blues. (Okay, I totally made that last part up, but I think it’s true!)
Do you like toys? I love them still, even as an adult. One of my favorite pass times is browsing toy stores, and luckily for me, there’s lots of cool independent toy stores in my area. These toy stores target adults and children, making them perfect for a ton of fun! I can get fun gifts for the kids in my life, but also find Fraggle Rock and Strawberry Shortcake toys for myself. I will be the first to admit that I spend way too much time (and money) in toy stores, just like when I was a kid!
What toy did you like playing with best as a child? Were you a doll person or a ball person? I believe that your favorite childhood toys say a lot about who you are today. I loved all sorts of toys, but my absolute most beloved toy was a hand me down Barbie dream house. I decorated it with little rugs and wall art I made myself 🙂 And guess what? I still like decorating today!
Do you have fond memories of your favorite childhood toys? Then take my latest quiz to find out: What Childhood Toy Are You? Let me know what you get on this quiz and what you think of your result! Is the toy you got something you would have played with as a kid?
By the way, have you seen the show The Toys That Made Us on Netflix? If you grew up in the 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s, I think you would really appreciate it. It’s a deep dive into the background of some retro toys. That show has me thinking… should I write more toy quizzes? Leave a comment below to let me know. I was thinking that quizzes about specific eras (like the 80s) or specific toys (like My Little Pony) could be fun.
Happy holidays! It’s that time of year again. Santa will soon be coming through with his sleigh to bring toys to all the children of the world. But as we know, he couldn’t do it without his helpers. And thank goodness for Santa’s helpers, because I love presents!
I believe that there are two types of people in this world – reindeer and elves. And the world couldn’t function without either of them… and we certain wouldn’t have Christmas without them. Do you know the difference?
Reindeers are the steady and directed creatures of this world. Reindeers take orders well and work hard. Reindeers have the endurance and grit to get the job done. If you need to depend on someone, depend on a reindeer type.
Elves are the creative and playful creatures of this world. Elves are creators and very industrious. But Elves don’t just work hard – they play hard too. Just when you think an elf is being too responsible, she’ll pull a prank on you. If you need inspiration, then turn to an elf.
If I had to say for myself, I definitely am an elf. I love to write quizzes, something I could definitely see elves doing. I am a hard worker, but I don’t like to work for too long without a play break. I try to be as detail oriented as possible in my work though, and repetitive work doesn’t bother me as long as I have some time to be creative. Besides, just like an elf, I love candy and maple syrup 😉
Do you play chess? I used to play chess a lot when I was young – only casually though! I was no Bobby Fischer 🙂 It has been one of my goals to pick chess back up as an adult, but it seems so intimidating now. I’ll probably have to start off playing a computer. Not that computers are easier to beat than humans – just the opposite in fact. I just know a computer won’t judge me for being a bad player!
Even if you don’t play chess, you probably understand how the game relates to real life. Like chess, life is all about strategy and power. It’s less about the particular pieces and moves and more about playing with the board you’re given. Whether you’ve played chess hundreds of times or never touched a chess board, I am sure that you can get the dynamics of a chess game. It’s like any other one on one game in life.
We all play different pieces on the figurative chessboard in everyday life, and these pieces change over time. Some of us feel like pawns with very few options. Others feel like kings – with all the power to lose and protect. Others feel like queens – well taken care of but ready to strike when necessary. Some of us feel like knights and move a little different than the rest of the world.
Take my quiz: What Chess Piece Are You? Learn exactly what your strengths and weaknesses are on the game board of life. As I mentioned before, you definitely don’t need to be a chess master to take this quiz. If anything, this chess quiz may spark some interest in chess for you.
Take What Chess Piece Are You? and let me know what you get on this quiz! What do you think of your result? Is it accurate? What chess piece do you think you’re most like in real life?
