There’s no doubt about it… this summer has been the best ever in my life for flowers. Usually the Texas heat makes flowers a little rarer than I’d like by the time July rolls around, but we’ve had a slightly cooler than usual summer. That means there are blooming flowers everywhere, and I love it. I don’t have the patience to grow my own flowers, and I’m too stingy to buy any. I’m very thankful that I have neighbors who grow beautiful flowers of every color and kind. I enjoy their flowers instead of having my own… and by enjoy, I just mean looking. Jeez! I would never clip any! 😉
There have been a lot of quizzes on Blogthings dealing with the meaning of flowers based on type, season, and color. I really wanted to do another flower quiz to celebrate my summer of flowers, but I felt stuck in a rut. Then I found some interesting research in a book about flower petals as far as their shape, amount, and meaning went. This seemed like a cool concept to me, because it’s more about shapes and numbers than flowers.
Take The Flower Petal Test, and let me know what result you get. Does it fit? Did you find it easy or difficult to imagine a flower in your mind?

Did you know that we all have birth flowers? I had no idea until I recently read an article about them. It turns out that birth flowers are a long honored tradition, dating back to the Romans (if you believe Wikipedia!). Over the years, different cultures have designated different flowers for each time of the year – with a lot of overlap. Just like with gemstones, there isn’t necessarily one flower for your month … it depends on region and tradition. However, the flowers for each month tend to be very similar and from the same family.
Needless to say, when I discovered birth flowers, I knew I had to write a quiz about them. I love flowers – not so much getting them but actually appreciating them in nature. I think it’s cool that flowers come with meanings, symbolism, and tradition attached to them. Clearly, they are a great topic for a quiz, and what gets easier than having to simply pick out your birth month.
Spring is in the air! Can you feel it? Depending on where you live, you may feel like there’s no end to winter, that spring is just around the corner, or that spring is already here. Here at Blogthings HQ, we get a very early spring. It’s been feeling like spring for at least a few weeks now, and I love it. The flowers are in full bloom, and my favorite fruit trees are just starting to show major signs of life. I plan on enjoying this season fully before the mosquitos and 100+ degree temperatures come back.
Do you find spring as inspiring as I do? I think I’m most inspired in the spring and the fall, in very different ways. During the spring, I feel myself energizing, ramping up, and getting inspired. There’s so much newness to be excited about, and everyone else’s energy is quite contagious 🙂 In the fall, I’m more inspired to slow down, to take stock, and to deepen. But that’s a whole other quiz topic for a whole other time.
The changing of the seasons inspired me to write a new quiz, and I decided to do an image quiz this time. If you’re not familiar with how an image quiz works, it’s very simple. Just select the image you like best, and you’ll automagically get your quiz result. The perfect break for the middle of a busy week 🙂 Anyway, here’s the quiz: The Spring Flowers Test I hope you enjoy my celebration of spring! I hope it encourages you to get out a bit and bask in the changing of the seasons.
What did you get on The Spring Flowers Test? Comment and let me know. Do you feel like your result fits you? Does it feel like spring yet in your neck of the woods?
Why are roses so universally popular? I think their appeal is more complex than we realize. I also believe that your taste in roses reveals a lot about your personality. Take my latest quiz to see if you agree: The Abstract Rose Test
What did you get on this quiz? Does it match your personality? Let me know!
I love flowers, and the bolder the colors, the better. I know that it’s not exactly flower season for everyone in the world, but I’m inspired by the beautiful fall flowers of Texas. That’s why I wrote my latest quiz: What Primary Color Flower Are You?
Take the quiz, and let me know what result you got in the comments below. I’m also curious to hear what your favorite color flower is.
Part of what makes flowers gorgeous is their vivid colors. But sometimes the simplest representation of a flower is beautiful as well. I was inspired by some images of black and white flowers I found, so I decided write a quiz for them: The Black and White Flowers Test
