Did you used to like after school snacks? My goodness – they were my favorite part of the school day. I ate almost everything and anything I could after school. I wish I could still eat like I did as a kid 🙂
What after school snack best fits your personality? Take my quiz to find out: What After School Snack Are You? Let me know what you got and if it’s something you would actually have eaten!
Discussion question: What was your favorite after school snack growing up?
Are you addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division?
Do you like math? I love math! I’m a long time math nerd and proud of it. I grew up watching a math TV show for kids, Square One TV – and it really got me into all things mathematical. I studied quite a bit of math in college, and while I don’t use it for Blogthings much (aside from the business part of things), I am glad I took it. Mathematical literacy is useful for all sorts of things – from halving recipes to managing finances.
People often ask me why I don’t have more math and science quizzes on Blogthings! I want to have more of these quizzes, but I want them to be accessible to everyone. We are all at different levels for math and science, and some of us (like me) have forgotten quite a bit from our school days. So whenever I can make a math or science quiz that everyone can take, I go for it!
Of course, something we call can do with math is basic arithmetic. And I think it’s interesting to imagine what it means to be an addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division person. So I decided to write a quiz exploring it… What Mathematical Operator Are You? Let me know what you get, and what you think of math in general. Do you like math? Or are you math adverse?
Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):
- What do you get on What Mathematical Operator Are You? Is it true for you?
- Did you like math when you were growing up? Was there a point where it got more boring or more exciting for you?
- When do you still use math in your everyday life or job? Are you surprised by how much or how little you use it?
- How rusty are your math skills? Take Could You Pass 8th Grade Math? to find out.
If you were a high schooler in the 90s, what clique would you belong to?
Did your high school have cliques? Mine definitely did. There were preppy kids, jocks, arty kids, punks, goths, hippies, skaters… well, you get the picture. I’m not sure what it is about high school that makes people all divide up into subcultures, but it seems to be one of the first times that self-identification is important. And I know for me, years later, I still have tons in common with the people who traveled in the same (alternative / geeky) circles that I traveled in.
I sort of feel like high school cliques are a universal thing, at least for public high schools in the US. (If you went to school outside of the US or private / parochial school, let me know if your experience was the same or different.) I’m not basing this on any sort of study I’ve read but just on movies and TV in a high school setting. From Grease to My So-Called Life to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Pretty Little Liars, every school has its subcultures.
Of course, Blogthings has done the high school clique quiz before (Who Were You In High School?), but rewatching one of my favorite movies, Clueless, made me want to do a spin on it… 90s style! Even if you didn’t go to high school in the 90s, you probably remember the 90s quite well. I thought it would be fun to see who we all would have been back then: What’s Your 90s High School Stereotype?
- What do you get on What’s Your 90s High School Stereotype?
- What decade did you go to high school in? What were some of the cliques at your school?
- If you could have gone to high school during any other decade, which one would you have chosen?
- What do you miss the most about high school? The least?
- Are there any tv shows or movies set at high school that you love? Which ones?

What language should you learn next?
Do you speak any languages other than English? I know at least a few of you do. Growing up, I was always fascinated by foreign languages. I speak a little of some languages – French and Spanish primarily. I understand a bit of a few like Norwegian and German as well 🙂 If I was independently wealthy, I could imagine devoting a life to learning so many languages. I find them to be so interesting!
Even though I’m not technically fluent in any of the languages I know, I’m always on the lookout for a new language to learn. I’m addicted to learning bit and pieces of languages, especially those similar to the ones I know already. I get a big kick out of seeing how Italian relates to French or how Portuguese relates to Spanish. I admit that I’m such a geek about this. Languages are a great way to travel without leaving your house, and it’s easier than ever to pick up a few words of something now that the internet is around.
Are you like me and eager to learn new languages? You might appreciate my quiz: What Language Should You Learn? Let me know below what you get on this one and what you think about learning languages.
Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):
- What do you get on What Language Should You Learn? Is it true for you?
- What languages (if any) do you speak other than English? How well?
- If you could learn any language instantly, which would you choose?
- Did you grow up with an language other than English being spoke at home?

Are you a woman or man of many interests?
Are you the type of person who doesn’t know what you want to be when you grow up… even if (especially if) you’re already grown up? Count me into this group! I still want to do it all, even if it would take a million lifetimes. While society frowns on us wanderers and free spirits, I think there is a lot to be said for being a generalist. While I admire people who can dig deep and specialize in one field, that is so not me. I’m interested in a little of everything, which I suppose is why I write quizzes. Being a writer allows me to indulge my many interests.
Anyway, instead of seeing myself as a flake, I prefer to see myself as a renaissance woman. A woman of many talents and abilities 😉 Of course this respinning is extremely self-serving, but I hope there is at least a little truth to it. I figure if I’m only going to live one life, I might as do as many things as possible. As a renaissance woman, I’m interested in writing, art (especially drawing and painting), nature, science (especially math and neuroscience), and animals. And while I don’t have time to become an expert in all of it, I like being a dabbler.
What about you? Do you feel me on this one? Are You a Renaissance Man or Woman? I have a feeling that a lot of Blogthings quiz takers are renaissance men and women, and I’d like to put my theory to the test. If you are a renaissance man or woman, let me know about it! What interests you and moves you?
So take the quiz, and let me know below what you get. Do you agree? Are you interested in many different subjects? Comment below, and let me know what you think!
Sometimes the most difficult part of learning is figuring out how to learn. I believe that each of us has a unique learning style, and we can benefit from knowing it. Do you agree? Take my latest quiz to figure out how you learn best: How Do You Learn?

Imagine you had the time, money, and inclination to go to grad school. How exciting! Of course, you’d have to decide what field you want to get your PhD in. Luckily, I just wrote a quiz for that: What Should You Get a PhD In?
Comment below and let me know your result. Also let me know if you’ve ever considered getting a PhD, and if so, what field you’re interested in.
Remember high school? Of course you do! (Unless you haven’t finished it yet.) If you’re like most people, it was the best of times, the worst of times, or a little of each.
You may have an idea of what you were like in high school, but what did your fellow students think of you. Take my latest quiz, How Do People Remember You From High School?, to know.
Comment below with your result, and let me know how accurate (or inaccurate) it is!
We all behave differently in a classroom. Some of us sit near the front and take copious notes. Some of us sit near the back and struggle to stay awake. Take The Classroom Test to learn what your classroom habits say about your personality.
And when you’re finished with the test, come back and comment with your result. Also, let me know if you love school, like school, tolerate school, or hate it.
