Quiz: The Chocolate Chip Cookie Oracle + Recipe

fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with milk
What does your favorite cookie say about you?

Cookies are pretty much my go to comfort food. I love all types of cookies – soft, chewy, dense, light, chocolate-y, peanut butter, fun, serious… That’s what makes a quiz like The Chocolate Chip Cookie Oracle so difficult for me. It’s hard for me to state a cookie preference because I love them all.

What kind of cookies do you like? Comment below and let me know. Also let me know if The Chocolate Chip Cookie Oracle is accurate for you. As an enticement, I’ve included a recipe for the healthy(ish) cookies Blogthings runs on. Happy quiz taking and baking!

Healthy Blogthings Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/4 cup oat flour (or another flour, but we like oat flour at Blogthings)

6 tablespoons brown sugar (that’s also 3/8 cup)

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 tablespoon salt

1/2 cup nut butter (almond, hazelnut, peanut butter, cashew butter) are all good choices

2 tablespoons applesauce

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 tablespoon almond extract (optional, but I like to use it for any non-peanut butter nut butter)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (mini preferred – mini M&Ms are cool too!)

2 bowls and 2 spoons for mixing

Cookie sheet

Combine the dry ingredients (flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt) in the first bowl. Mix well.

Combine the wet ingredients (nut butter, applesauce, and extract(s)) into the second bowl. Mix well.

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix in the chocolate chips. Refrigerate the dough for two hours or overnight. The dough should be firm before you use it.

Preheat your oven to 350F.

Scoop the cookie dough out onto the cookie sheet in tablespoon sized balls. Flatten the balls a bit with the back of a spoon or knife (or clean hand!). Bake for 12 minutes, or until the cookies start to brown. Pull them out of the oven, and let them cool for a few minutes on the pan before transferring them to a rack.

Enjoy 🙂 These cookies are naturally vegan and also gluten free for people who eat oats. If you make them, please let me know what you think!

What’s Your Pie Personality?

Pumpkin Pie
Do you love pie? Take my quiz!

So looking forward to Thanksgiving! I love this holiday, even though many have mixed feelings about it. I think the combination of food and family on a dark, cold night can’t be beat. I look forward to this single holiday all year, and while each Thanksgiving is different, it’s never disappointing. And while there may be family squabbles, tension, and football rivalries, what can’t be solved over a nice piece of pie.

No doubt about it, my favorite part of this holiday is pie. (Okay, maybe it’s second to seeing my family… especially if they happen to be reading this.) I love pie of all sorts. Pumpkin pie is my hands down favorite, but I’m also partial to pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie… you get the picture. It’s probably true that I haven’t met a pie I didn’t like, but I will admit that I’m not the biggest fan of rhubarb pie.

What about you? Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving? Are you at least in the mood for pie? 😉

For me, pie is usually a Thanksgiving thing, but it doesn’t have to be. I grew up eating at Village Inn (a chain of restaurants in the midwestern United States) as a kid and teenager, and there was nothing I liked better than a slice of their pie. French silk was my non-seasonal favorite, and I can still remember how that chocolate cookie crust tasted. So yes, I was raised on pie!

Take my quiz: What Kind of Pie Are You? Let me know what you end up getting on this one. Also, what type of pie is your favorite? Is pie the thing you look forward to most during the Thanksgiving? Or do you have another aspect of the holiday you like best?

Who’s Up for a Brownie?

I’ll admit it.. I’m ready for a brownie anytime. I love brownie sundaes in the summer and straight out of the oven brownies in the winter.

I love brownies with nuts and brownies without nuts. I love fudge-y brownies and cake-y brownies.

Wow, there really are a lot of ways to enjoy a brownie. That’s why I was inspired to write my latest quiz, What Kind of Brownie Are You?

Be warned… this quiz will make you hungry!

There’s Always Room for Pie!

whatholidaypieareyouOne of my favorite things about the holidays is pie. Pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie, pecan pie… I love them all. Whipped cream or ice cream? I’ll have both. Thanks for asking!

Hungry yet? Well, you’re about to get even hungrier after you take my quiz, What Holiday Pie Are You?

And go ahead, indulge yourself with a piece of pie. It’s the holiday season, after all!
