Have you ever dreamed of learning a foreign language? If you are like most people, there’s a language or two that you wish in your heart that you spoke better. For me, so many languages quality – I collect foreign languages, which is a lot of fun. However, I don’t speak any of them well 🙂 I guess if I listened to my heart, the language I’d really like to speak better is French.
There’s something magical about a language we weren’t born knowing. Everything sounds a little more poetic or a little more interesting. Do you agree? Even if you don’t speak any languages other than English, I bet there’s a foreign language that you love to listen to. Of course, I love to listen to French, but I also think Italian is equally beautiful – maybe more so because I understand less of it, haha.
I am trying to have more foreign language in my life these days, without putting pressure on myself to become fluent in any particular language. So for me, this may simply mean watching more foreign films (can’t get enough of French comedies). Who knows what else? It may also mean watching foreign news (with subtitles of course). It could even mean some foreign travel… now that one sounds nice!
To learn what language is most like your personality, take my latest quiz: What Language Are You? This isn’t about what language you should learn, but you may want to learn the language you get anyway! This quiz may inspire you to learn a whole new language… or simply travel to a new country.
Take What Language Are You?, and let me know what you get on this quiz. Did you get a favorite foreign language? If not, which foreign language do you love the most? Comment below and let me know.
I’ll be the first to admit that I never thought about personality corresponding to the different types of dollar bills we Americans carry in our wallets, but it’s an interesting idea. And if you’re not an American, don’t worry! I’m sure you know enough about money to follow along.
It’s kind of funny to think about the bills in our wallets. I find that some get used all the time, while others are more novelty items. If you think about your wallet and how it changes over time, it’s easy to see the personality of some dollar bills. Or at least it did to me when I was writing this quiz.
So if someone were to ask you what dollar bill you were, you’d probably say $100. But not so fast… bigger doesn’t always mean better. Not everyone is willing to accept $100 with open arms. Maybe it’s better in this case to be a twenty, depending on your circumstances. I know that this is all kind of silly, but I’m in a silly mood!
What about the quirkiness of a two dollar bill? Or the flexibility of a one dollar bill? Aha, so maybe what dollar bill you are isn’t so simple! Take my newest quiz What Dollar Bill Are You? to learn what you match up with the best.
Give What Dollar Bill Are You? a go, and let me know what you think. Do you feel like the dollar bill you got matches your personality? Comment and let me know.
Thanks to the Blogthings fan who recommended this quiz idea. I have to admit that at first I thought “huh?” when I heard it, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. If you think you know of the next great quiz for Blogthings, by all means let me know in the comments below.
Do you prefer Walmart or Target? It seems like everyone has an opinion about what they like better – Walmart or Target. Walmart’s cheaper. Target’s snazzier. Walmart’s open 24 hours a day. Target has pretty, shiny things to buy. Walmart and Target are both awesome places to shop, especially when you are looking for a great price on a variety of items.
You may feel like there is a big difference between Walmart shoppers and Target shoppers, and you would be right. While most people prefer shopping at Walmart to Target, more urban, yuppie types tend to like Target better. Target shoppers tend to be more trend and image oriented, while Walmart folks are looking to buy in volume on a budget. I’m not stereotyping, y’all – there are studies to back this up!
I can see both sides to this Walmart vs Target debate- as I think I am both a Walmart and Target person at times. (Though I have to say that I try to avoid big box stores whenever I can, something that’s getting harder and harder these days.) Walmart is great for when you need, oh I don’t know, a replacement air conditioner at 3:30AM. And Target is just so fun for browsing around in a red cart, discovering quirky new products. While I wish I could buy all my goods on Main Street from family businesses, it seems like that ship sailed generations ago.
What about you? Are you more like Walmart or Target? Take my quiz Are You Walmart or Target? to find out.
Give Are You Walmart or Target? a try, and let me know what you think. Do you have a preference between Walmart and Target? Or are you like me and try to buy things at other places? Let me know what your shopping preferences are, especially during this holiday season.
Happy Buy Nothing Day!
Happy Black Friday!
Wait… what? If you haven’t noticed, it’s sort of a confusing day today. It’s both Buy Nothing Day and Black Friday. On the one had, we have a day that rallies against consumerism – Buy Nothing Day. On the other hand, Black Friday is all about consumerism… scoring some deals on holiday gifts.
I feel like both events are very valid. First of all, I’ll defend Black Friday a bit. Yes, many people do take it too far with fighting over items, standing in line for hours, and buying things that they don’t need. It is such an insane consumer extravaganza. However, I do shop Black Friday sales myself, selectively. I do feel like the holidays are too oriented towards gifts, but I also do buy people gifts on a limited budget. I think we all agree that there’s some huge savings on Black Friday, and I don’t fault anyone for wanting to save some money on their holiday shopping – me included.
On the other hand, I also do feel like the holidays are way too commercial. For so many people, love is expressed by buying things we can’t afford and that our family and friends don’t need anyway. I love the idea of homemade gifts, repurposed items, and even the gift of time or service. And I think Buy Nothing Day supports this – which I think is awesome. To be completely honest, in an ideal world, I would fully participate in Buy Nothing Day every year because that is where my heart is at.
So what are we to do? First of all, take my new quiz – Should You Celebrate Buy Nothing Day? You’ll learn whether you should shop til you drop today or drop out of the consumer rat race.
Take Should You Celebrate Buy Nothing Day? , and let me know what you think. What did you get on this quiz? Do you think the holidays are too commercial in general? I’m curious to know what you think of a movement like Buy Nothing Day.
Happy Thanksgiving! Now that the big day is upon us, it’s almost time to stop thinking about the cooking and start thinking about the eating. I love how food centric Thanksgiving is because let’s be honest: I love to eat. But it doesn’t just stop there. I love to think about food and of course, write quizzes about food. So let’s bring on another food based quiz for Thanksgiving!
Have you ever noticed that each person at the dinner table has their own favorite Thanksgiving food? Isn’t that interesting? I’ve observed that some people flip for the turkey, while others won’t sit down to a table without cranberry sauce. For me, it is often all about the mashed potatoes – or the sweet potatoes! I’m just into potatoes of any sort. But who am I kidding? It also may be pie.
Thinking about favorite Thanksgiving foods got me wondering: what makes a turkey person different from a stuffing person? What makes a cranberry sauce person different from a gravy person? I have noticed that each person in my family has different favorite foods – and very distinct personalities. And to me, this is perfect fodder for a quiz.
Take my newest quiz, What Does Your Favorite Thanksgiving Food Say About You? to find out. This quiz is quick and easy – the hardest part is actually figuring out what your favorite Thanksgiving food is. This is a fun one to take during the Thanksgiving festivities, as it just takes a minute for each person. Nothing like some family bonding time over favorite foods!
Give What Does Your Favorite Thanksgiving Food Say About You? , and let me know what you think of your result. Do you think your favorite Thanksgiving food reflects your personality? Do you have a Thanksgiving food that should be included in this list?
Happy Thanksgiving! Is this a holiday that you love or a holiday that you dread? I love Thanksgiving, but I’ll admit that it took me a while to get here. Like many of you, I prefer a drama free Thanksgiving with my favorite foods, so that means often doing Thanksgiving my way.
I am all about reclaiming this holiday and making it a holiday we all love. Do you feel me on this? I truly believe that while it’s worth the time to make an effort for friends and families, as flawed as we all are, it’s also important to stay away from truly toxic people during the holidays. Thanksgiving is full of fun, food, and football – but it can be full of landmines as well.
Thanksgiving is an interesting time of the year. So much closeness means lots of personalities mesh and clash. No wonder it’s a time of year when emotions run high. A lot of our best times are around the holidays, but some of our worst times are too. I find that it’s so easy to take on a certain role during Thanksgiving, especially when hanging out with family. Those family dynamics run deep, and in some ways, that’s what today’s quiz is all about.
I believe that we each have Thanksgiving personalities and roles to play on this day. Don’t worry, it’s not as ominous as it sounds. I do think these Thanksgiving personalities tend to be similar from year to year, but we all can and do evolve.
Are you reserved on Thanksgiving? Friendly and warm? Ready for a heated discussion? Take my latest quiz What’s Your Thanksgiving Personality? and find out!
Give What’s Your Thanksgiving Personality? a go, and let me know what you get. What do you think of this quiz? What personality do you have on Thanksgiving?
Have you ever heard the expression, there’s always room for pie? This is basically the motto I live my life by, at least during the holidays. I just love this magical time of year where you can eat a full feast, and then an hour or two later, you miraculously have room for pie 😉
So yes, one of my favorite things about the holidays is pie. Pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie, pecan pie… I love them all. Whipped cream or ice cream? I’ll have both. Thanks for asking! I have even been known to eat pie for breakfast. It’s the best cure for a holiday hangover, I swear.
When it comes to holiday pies, I really do love them all. However, in my opinion, the best pie is homemade. I especially love pie with homemade crust, which is something I haven’t mastered. So yes, my homemade pie does involve store bought crust 😉 But let’s be real, I can’t swing a semi-homemade pie every year. And bakery or frozen definitely gets the job done in those cases.
Hungry yet? Well, you’re about to get even hungrier after you take my quiz, What Holiday Pie Are You? You’ll learn which holiday pie best matches your personality, and after that, I implore you to go eat that pie. Or your favorite pie. Or any pie really! Go ahead, indulge yourself with a piece of pie. It’s the holiday season, after all.
Take What Holiday Pie Are You?, and let me know what you get on this quiz. Does it match your pie preference? Why or why not? What is your favorite holiday pie? Comment below and let me know. And this may be the ideal quiz to take with your crew on Thanksgiving evening. Just a thought 🙂 After all, anything is better than talking politics.
Do you like Thanksgiving sides? I think we all do, but for some of us, Thanksgiving is all about the sides. Of course, we all have our favorites, but just as it’s hard to think of Thanksgiving without the turkey, I think it’s hard to imagine a Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.
As a non-turkey eater, I may be a bit biased, but I love Thanksgiving sides. Bring on the mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls, and sweet potatoes. I’ll have seconds of all of them. In fact, I definitely think that you can build a decent dinner out of only sides. At least, this is my operating theory when I cook way too many sides every year!
If you love sides as much as I do, then you’ve got to take my latest quiz: What Thanksgiving Side Dish Are You? (Warning: this quiz may make you very hungry!) You’ll get the Thanksgiving side that best fits your personality, and of course, I encourage you to eat seconds of that side this year. I’m for any reason to eat seconds at Thanksgiving!
I you like What Thanksgiving Side Dish Are You?. Give it a go, and let me know what you get. It may seem very small in the scheme of things to be more like mashed potatoes or cornbread, but Blogthings is all about your little quirks! Did you get the Thanksgiving side you love on this quiz? Or do you have a different favorite Thanksgiving side?
P.S. Revisiting this blog post ten years later, I’m happy to report that this quiz has become a Thanksgiving tradition for many. Some of us take it year after year to see if we are still the same Thanksgiving side.Take What Thanksgiving Side Dish Are You? this year with your family and friends to start your own quizzing tradition 🙂
Another year of holidays, another chance for debate… What’s better, Christmas or Thanksgiving? I always think I fall solidly into the Thanksgiving camp, until Thanksgiving is over. Then I’m looking forward to Christmas. So I guess I’d say I prefer Thanksgiving eleven months out of the year and Christmas one month out of the year! All seriousness aside, I go back and forth a lot over which holiday I like best. I love all of the food and planning associated with Thanksgiving, but I also love the coziness and traditions of Christmas. Thank goodness we have both holidays each year.
Some people prefer Thanksgiving because it’s a short holiday centered around eating. Not much stress is involved, and at least you’re full at the end. Sure, you don’t get presents, but you do get to eat your favorite foods. In my opinion, pumpkin pie almost pushes Thanksgiving over the edge. Not to mention football. And you don’t have to worry about what gifts to get everyone. Not to mention, Thanksgiving is a lot easier on your wallet (unless you’re doing all the hosting).
Some people prefer Christmas because of Santa, presents, and sweets. Christmas seems to get longer every year, and true fans love it that way. It’s true that you don’t get all the Thanksgiving classic foods automatically at Christmas, but who’s to say you can’t serve them anyway? And did we mention Christmas cookies? And fruitcake? Well, maybe that one is a minus. It’s hard to compete with the feeling of opening presents on Christmas morning.
So what about you? Take my quiz Are You Christmas or Thanksgiving?, to find out! And happy holidays either way!
Give Are You Christmas or Thanksgiving? a go, and let me know what you think. Which holiday do you prefer? Or are you like me and have trouble choosing between Christmas and Thanksgiving?
Do you live in a big city? Or at least visit one on a regular basis? I live in the middle of a pretty big city, and while that has some drawbacks, it can be a lot of fun. And one of the things I love most about being in a big city is enjoying all the people watching opportunities. There’s such a variety of people and personalities on display in a big city – it’s just fun to sit on my porch and watch the world go by.
Some city people are always on the go, trying to reach the top as quickly as possible. Other city people are really urbanites, enjoying every single experience the city has to offer. Some city people are intellectuals, looking for all the brainy and cultural events a city has to offer. And some city people are homebodies, content to know that they are surrounded by a ton of people whirling around them. I don’t think any one kind of city dweller is better than the rest (though I myself tend to be more of a homebody). Variety is the spice of life… and of a city 🙂
Whether you live in the city or simply just visit it, you have a distinct city personality. And today’s quiz will tell you exactly what it is! Take my quiz What Kind of City Dweller Are You?, to learn all about your city dweller personality! Who knows? You may get inspired to live in the city or to at least visit one. Or you may figure out you belong in an entirely different city or neighborhood.
Take What Kind of City Dweller Are You?, and let me know what you think of your result. Does this quiz get your personality right? If you could live in any city in the world, what city would you pick? Comment below and let me know!
