Five New Quizzes This Week – Happy November Tea Sipping Weather!

I was both indirectly and directly inspired by fall this week!

I was both indirectly and directly inspired by fall this week!

I’m so happy it’s November! I know that some people don’t like it when the days get shorter, but I do. I love the cold dark nights I spend drinking tea and writing quizzes. I really savor this time of year, and I think my quizzes are inspired by it.

Do you like fall enough to live in it year round? Maybe another season? Take my newest quiz, What Season Could You Live in All Year?, to see what season would be best for you to live in. I am pretty sure I’d be content living in fall or winter year round!

One of the more interesting things about fall is how fashion changes. Dramatic looks fit better, even in the daytime. The evolution of fall looks, especially makeup looks, inspired me to write The Smokey Eye Test. This quick image quiz will tell you what your drama style is.

As I mentioned before (and in many previous blog posts), I love drinking tea. I’m enough of a weirdo to drink it when it’s warm out, but I so prefer a cup of tea when it’s chilly. I have been drinking a lot of extra tea these days, and that inspired my quiz: What Color Tea Are You?

Fall is one of my favorite times for catching up on housework. When it’s cold and dark out, I finally get bored enough to do some extra chores around the house. I don’t love doing housework, but I love the results. If you agree, you might like my quiz: What Kind of Housework Are You?

Not exactly fall related, but I find that a lot of people I know are going through a career or education change right now. If you’re currently reevaluating your options – or even looking for a side project – you should take Where Do Your Talents Lie?

New Quiz: Are You a Doormat?

Smiling confident girl

Are you a doormat? Or do you tend to stick up for yourself?

Do you speak up for yourself? Or do you tend to let things lie? I don’t think I would consider myself a doormat, although like most people, I probably could have better boundaries. I tend to avoid confrontation, but if someone is really bugging me, I will let that person know… or get away from her quickly. It depends on who it is!

I have been thinking a lot lately about people who are doormats vs those who are balanced vs those who never would let anyone walk all over them. In particular, I think that striking the right balance between doormat and let’s say “justice warrior” can lead to increased happiness and reduced anxiety. I know for myself that a lot of my anxiety is rooted in being afraid of not handling situations well. If I think I’m going to get taken advantage of, I get nervous. But I also get nervous if I think I’m going to be too confrontational with someone getting under my skin.

Thinking about the balance and difficulty it takes to not be a doormat made me wrote my latest quiz: Are You a Doormat? Let me know what you get on this quiz, and what you think about standing up for yourself in general. Does dealing with difficult people or situations give you anxiety, or do you have a way of dealing with things that works well for you?

  1. What do you get on Are You a Doormat? Is it true for you?
  2. When do you think it’s important to stand up for yourself? And when do you let things slide?
  3. Are you more likely to confront someone and regret it? Or regret not saying anything?
  4. Take Are You Confident? What do you think of your result?

New Quiz: The Vintage Sneaker Test

Five vintage sneakers

Which of these sneakers would you like to wear the most? Take my latest image quiz to see what your vintage sneaker says about you.

Do you wear sneakers often? I know that some consider them a fashion faux pas, but I think sneakers can be quite fashionable if done right. I’m especially a fan of vintage style sneakers in simple, but bold, colors. I think a minimalist sneaker can look quite cool with jeans or other casual wear. Would fancier shoes often look better? Maybe, but my feet need to be comfortable.

I wear sneakers a good deal of the time. I do a lot of walking in my everyday life, and I can only go a mile or two in non-sneaker shoes, even if they are designed for walking. I own a few pairs of colorful, simple sneakers, and I mix them up depending on my mood or outfit. I hope they pass as stylish, but luckily, I live in an area that is more casual than fashion forward anyway.  I think the most important thing for looking stylish in sneakers is intention. If you pick out cool looking sneakers that complement your outfit, you can fit in anywhere – even Paris! (Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments!)

What sort of sneakers do you like? And what do they say about you? Take The Vintage Sneaker Test to find out.  Comment below to let me know what you get on this quiz… and what you think about wearing sneakers in general.

  4. Take The Shoe Personality Test What do you think of your result?

Quiz: The Inkblot Test

inkblot from inkblot test

Have you ever taken an inkblot test or a Rorschach test? I don’t believe I have ever taken one, but I have seen many inkblot tests depicted in films and television. It’s interesting to me that this old form of psychological testing is still so prevalent in entertainment, even though I don’t think it’s used much by actual psychologists any longer. I think many of us believe that the things we might seek in inkblots or other abstract images says quite a bit about us.

I did some research on the Rorschach test when writing this quiz, and I found some really interesting information. Inkblot tests are primarily used in the United States, and forensic psychologists still use them relatively often. I guess that may be why inkblot tests come up in TV and film… they are a part of a crime thriller story line.

The most interesting thing I learned is that while some inkblot test answers are cross cultural, many inkblot test answers are region specific. When people from some countries see bats, people from other countries see butterflies. More revealing is the fact that Americans tend to see humans when other people from other countries see various animals.

I wanted to write my own Rorschach or inkblot test because I’ve never had the chance to take one. If you are in a similar situation, then check out: The Inkblot Test. There are many possible outcomes for this quiz, so see how you compare to everyone else! Comment below and let me know what you got.

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on The Inkblot Test? Is it true for you?
  2. Have you ever taken an inkblot test? Did you enjoy taking it?
  3. Do you think inkblot tests are accurate? Why or why not?

New Quiz: What Social Network Are You?

woman with laptop outdoors

Which social network would be the most fun for you? Take my latest quiz to learn!

Do you enjoy social networking? Are you addicted to Facebook? Constantly on Twitter? Surfing Reddit? It may not seem like it at first, but I think all of us tend to enjoy one form of social networking or another, even if we’re not run of the mill Facebook addicts. Even hanging out on a forum or website with comments (like this blog) can be social networking.

I like some social networking, but for me, it tends to be more interest based then friends based. I love connecting with people who love quizzes on this blog and on various social networks. I also follow a few of my interests on social networks, like gardening, film, and personal finance. However, I will be the first to admit that I’m not a big fan of doing social networking with people I know in real life or have known. Maybe it’s just a quirk of mine, but I don’t really feel comfortable with the status competitions among people I know on places like Facebook (especially), Instagram, and Twitter. I find that to be kind of annoying 🙂 I rather connect over things I share with people!

What about you? What’s your social networking style? Take my latest quiz to see which social networking site you are most like: What Social Network Are You? Comment below and let me know what you get!

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on What Social Network Are You? Is it true for you?
  2. What sort of things do you like to read about and share about on social sites?
  3. Are there any social networks or forums you spend time on besides the big ones? Which ones?
  4. Are there any popular social networks from the past that you thought were better than the ones we have today? Friendster? Xanga? Maybe even MySpace?
  5. Take What Keyboard Key Are You? What do you think of your result?

New Quiz: What Type of Kid Were You?

smart little girl with barcode t-shirt

What kind of kid were you like? Take my latest quiz to find out what type of kid you were.

What were you like as a kid? Were you smart? Were you shy? Were you rambunctious? Were you wise beyond your years? I’m always amazed by how distinct our personalities are at a young age … even if they end up changing later on. I was one of the oldest kids in my family, and growing up I got to see how unique each little kid was from an early age.

I think it’s fun to look back and think about our childhood personalities, because we have room enough to have a good perspective on ourselves. While looking at where we are right now is always good, I feel like it’s hard for me sometimes to do an honest and unbiased assessment. But looking back at myself as a kid is a lot easier. I can see how I was with a clearer picture and without judgment. And while our personalities may change drastically as we become adults (or not… mine really hasn’t), I think it’s always good to see where we’ve been 🙂

New Quiz: What Kind of Food Cart Are You?

four food carts

Which food cart should you go to? Take my latest quiz to find out!

Do you like eating at food carts? I think they can be fun. Some of they are really good, and I like that the low overhead for them makes them very creative at times. My city has a lot of food trucks and food carts, and I’ve really enjoyed sampling them over the years. I’m lucky enough to have a breakfast food truck near me, as well as taco, donut, and sandwich carts nearby. Closer to down town, there are all sorts of interesting food carts and trucks – including one devoted to just guacamole. (So crazy!)

My favorite way to go to food trucks and carts is to find a bunch close to each other. That way everyone can eat whatever they want, and you can even sample a little something from each one. I first saw this in dense cities like New York and DC, but now even in Austin you can find a food trailer park full of different food stalls, trucks, and carts. These are super fun places that often include free live music, movies, and fresh farm produce.

The sheer fun of summer food carts inspired my latest quiz:  What Kind of Food Cart Are You?  (food truck quiz to come, I’m sure!) Let me know what you get on this one below, and let me know if you enjoy food carts in general.

New Quiz: The Surfboard Test

redhead in bikini with four surfboards

Which of these surfboards do you like the best? Take this quick quiz to learn your surfing personality.

Do you like to surf? Or have you dreamed about learning to surf? It’s still on my bucket list to at least get up on a surfboard and ride the waves… although I’m not sure I’d be very good at it. It’s hard enough for me to balance on one foot for yoga. I can’t imagine how crazy it would be to balance on top of a chaotic surfboard. It sounds like a fun challenge though!

I’ll admit that I don’t know much about surfing, but I grew up dreaming about it thanks to all the Beach Boys music they played on my local radio station. Later on, I got inspired to surf by watching The Endless Summer and Step Into Liquid. And the little time I have spent in surf towns has been amazing. They have a laid back vibe that I can really appreciate. Little sounds better to me than surfing in the morning and writing quizzes by the beach in the afternoon 😉

What about you? Does surfing sound like fun? Find out what kind of surfer you would be with The Surfboard Test. (And if you’re a personality theory nerd, you’ll notice I based this off the NT, NF, SP, and SJ temperament types!) Let me know what you get on this one in the comments below.

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on The Surfboard Test? Is it true for you?
  2. Do you know how to surf? If so, where have you surfed? If not, would you like to learn?
  3. Do you have a surf movie, television show, or even music that you like?
  4. Take What Swimming Stroke Are You? What do you think of your result?

Quiz: The Summer Test

six summer scenes

Which summer scene is the most appealing to you?

Is everyone having a good summer so far? I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how lovely my summer has been. Texas isn’t exactly known for its beautiful summers, but this summer has been pretty mild by our standards. Any summer where a breezy morning or evening walk is all that I can ask for. Plus, it’s even been nice enough for me to garden without having to water my plants four times a day. I’ve got a great collection of basil growing, which is great for those light summer pasta dishes 🙂

Many of you have expressed to me that summer isn’t exactly your favorite season, and I can see why. We more serious types love the coziness and quiet of fall and winter. This summer, I’ve tried to make things more manageable by trying to find some of that coziness wherever I can. Instead of cozying up with a blanket and a book, I lay out under my ceiling fan with my reading. (Current choice – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.) I’ve also made my summer a bit more fun by embracing some new summery traditions. For example, I love having a bit of watermelon with my breakfast!

Whether you love summer or simply think it’s okay, I hope you enjoy this image quiz of relaxing summer scenes: The Summer Test. Let me know what you get, and how your summer has been going.

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on The Summer Test? Is it true for you?
  2. How has your summer been so far? Would you rate it as average, above average, or below average?

  4. What are you looking forward to most this autumn?
  5. Take What’s Your Summer Ride? What do you think of your result?

New Quiz: What Domain Suffix Are You?

list of domain suffixes

Are you more of a dot com or a dot org person? Take my quiz to find out!

Here’s a weird question for you… are you enough of a geek that you actually type in domain names by hand? I do! I know some people these days prefer to search for their favorite sites (many of you come to Blogthings simply by searching for “blogthings), but I still type them in the old fashioned way. For sites I might forget, I make a bookmark, but in the end, I do a lot of typing.

If you’ve been on the internet a while (and I know most of you have!), I’m sure you know all about the different type of domain names out there. Of course, the good old standby is .com, but there is a lot more to the internet than .com… we have .org, and .net for starters. Anyone is allowed to get those! And for specific types of institutions, you’ve got .edu and .gov… and then there’s all the country codes like .uk and .au, things like .biz and .info and so on! It’s hard to keep all the domain suffixes straight, but luckily there are a few main ones. I remember back before the internet was cool, people used to agonize over which domain suffix they should get 🙂

Do you see domain suffixes as having certain personalities? Is an org or edu website more your style? Take my latest quiz to find out! What Domain Suffix Are You?  Comment below and let me know what you got 🙂

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on What Domain Suffix Are You? Is it true for you?
  2. Do you have your own domain … or have you ever had one? What did you do with it?
  3. What do you spend the most time online doing? Working? Reading? Writing? Chatting?
  4. Take What’s Your Facebook Personality? What do you think of your result?
