What Genre Should You Write?

woman is writing

Do you like to write? Or have you at least dreamed about it? I don’t spend much time writing more than quizzes and blog posts, but I have dreams of writing a novel. Maybe not a Great American Novel, but hopefully something readable 🙂

If you were going to write a book or short story, what genre would you write? Take my latest quiz to see what kind of work you should write: What Genre Should You Write? Let me know what you get and if you agree with your result.

Discussion question: What sort of writing have you dreamed of doing? You can answer genre or form… or both!

What do you think?

I got sci-fi. I really want to write either fantasy or sci-fi someday, hopefully a novel. So far I’m still working on being patient enough to keep one story going rather than jumping around anywhere and everywhere haha.

It sounds like you are making great progress. Focus is such a huge barrier to overcome 🙂 Can’t wait to read your novel one day.

I got Literary Fiction–I guess that’s closest to what I’d be most likely to write (fantasy, because sci-fi is nothing like fantasy!), and it would definitely be more realistic with one big fantasy what-if.

A lot of Literary Fiction and quite a bit of Sci-Fi

Something realistic, experimental, and kinda dark/bittersweet (not necessarily a drama just elements of it). I’m not actually good at writing just at giving ideas.
