What’s Your Back to School Fashion Style?

woman hanging out on bikes

Did you like dressing for school? I actually enjoyed it whenever I had a bit of allowance money to spend. Whether you’re still in school or out of school, I thought it would be fun to celebrate the return to school with a (gender neutral) fashion quiz.

Take my latest test to see your style:ย What’s Your Back to School Fashion Style?ย Comment and let me know what your result is.

Today’s Friday Five is, of course, back to school themed ๐Ÿ™‚ Comment to participate in the fun, and if you want to, link to your blog post where you answer the questions instead.

  1. When you were in school, how did you feel about going back each year?
  2. Do you have a particular back to school or school picture outfit that you remember?
  3. What sort of clothes were in style when you were in high school?
  4. How has your fashion style changed since you were a teenager?
  5. How has your fashion style stayed the same since you were a teen?

What do you think?

I got Sporty, which not really, but it’s closer than the others, I think–we didn’t have uniforms when I was in school, but we had a dress code that was the next thing to it.

    1. I was always cautiously excited/ambitious about the new school year–but it was the same small religious school and it never changed. (College was much better!)

    2. No, mostly because of that dress code.

    3. … I don’t remember! I think preppy was in there somewhere, but that might have been later, when my little sister was in high school.

    4. I like to think I have some now!

    5. I suppose I still follow a “dress code” of sorts, even if it’s my own–classics for the basics, with pops of trendy (if I like the current trends!).

I was actually always a little jealous of schools with a strict dress code or uniforms. I thought that those kids had less pressure when it came to school clothes, but of course, there are downsides too ๐Ÿ™‚

With a dress code, the status seeking was all about quality–and my mom certainly wasn’t going to spend ridiculous amounts of money on school clothes for children, so I always lost in that competition. There was no room to compensate with creativity!

    Your School Style is Boho

You dress very expressively, and you need to make a statement with what you wear… even if you’re at school.
You rock a look that’s uniquely you, and you are always looking to evolve it a little. You don’t love trends, but you love clothes (depends).

Your outfits tend to be a bit arty, and you appreciate unique accessories and items. You just naturally stand out.
Your choice in clothes may be a bit unconventional, but you have taste. Others often emulate what you wear (I’ve never known anyone that copied my fashion style) .

    1. Wasn’t fond of it
    2. Nope
    3. Don’t really remember
    4. I pay more attention to what I pick out now
    5. I didn’t care what was in or out of style

I was usually excited to see my friends, but that wore off quickly! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, in the 1980s I had a hot pink shirt with black and white checkered suspenders.

What sort of clothes were in style when you were in high school?

    In high school? Definitely grunge.

How has your fashion style changed since you were a teenager?

I am a bit more grown up in my adult clothes; a bit more of a risk taker in my casual clothes.

How has your fashion style stayed the same since you were a teen?

I still like black a lot. And I still wear clogs.
