New Quiz: Are You Android or iPhone?

Are you more like an Android phone or iPhone?

Are you an Android user? If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you are! I know this because a few months ago, I wrote a quiz called: Are You an iPhone or an iPad? Some of you really liked it, but some of you reminded me that not all of you are Apple product fans… And I listened! As you may know, I don’t like anyone to feel left out on Blogthings, so I tried to think outside the Apple box for my latest gadget quiz. I love technology of all sorts, and the last thing I’d want anyone to think is that I was pushing a certain viewpoint or company on Blogthings. (Actually, I’ll openly admit that I’m very pro-open source whenever possible… that’s my geeky bias!)

Now I know that not everyone who isn’t an Apple fan isn’t automatically an Android fan, but as of right now, they are the two dominant operating systems for smartphones and tablets. So I thought, why not put them up against each other to see which fits each person best. Luckily, there is a lot of research on the differences between Android and iPhone users (marketers are desperate for this kind of information!), so hopefully I was able to develop an accurate quiz. As always when it comes to generalizing, you may be an outlier, but I hope at least some of your result rings true for you.

Check out Are You Android or iPhone?, and let me know what you get. Is your result accurate for the type of smartphone you have? Or would at least like to have?

Discussion topics (Comment below and let me know any or all of these):

  1. What do you get on Are You Android or iPhone? Is it true for you?
  2. Are you a gadget geek when it comes to phones? Or is old school / simple okay for you?
  3. If you could have a mobile device that could only make calls, text, or surf the web, which one feature would you choose?
  4. Take Are You a Mac or a PC? What do you think of your result?

P.S. This quiz is brought to you by Swagbucks, my favorite place to earn goodies online easily. You can even earn Best Buy gift cards there for new cell phones and tablets. How cool is that?

What do you think?

I get Android, but I have an iPhone. Will probably have both eventually for Blogthings development … very old versions though, I’m sure.

Are you a gadget geek when it comes to phones? Or is old school / simple okay for you?

I’m less of a geek than I once was. My ancient iPhone does the job.

If you could have a mobile device that could only make calls, text, or surf the web, which one feature would you choose?

Probably surf the web because Mr. Blogthings is more available over email than phone anyway 😉

Take Are You a Mac or a PC? What do you think of your result?

I’m a Mac, but maybe one day I will be a Linux machine 🙂

    1. IPhone. Yep. Although I don’t have a smart phone at all! Lol. I have a Nokia Tracfone! I’ve had it for a long time and I even dropped it in a river and it works and does what I need it to. 🙂 I do have an ipad though and a MacBook until it pooped out. And I have an iPod. And I had an iPod Touch but gave it to my daughter when I got my tablet.
You love technology. It’s likely that you have a head for design, marketing, writing, and music. You love technology that is also beautiful. You think it’s best to keep it simple when it comes to technology. You prefer something that does a few things well.
enjoys scripted TV dramas, sushi, literary fiction. You have your eye out for the best entertainment, food, clothing, and travel.
    2. See #1! I’m sure I could make good use of a smart phone but I don’t NEED one. And now I’m kind of attached to my indestructible little Nokia.
    3. Oh. That’s not nice. 🙁 but I would have to choose making calls! I do not want to be left stranded in an emergency situation.
    4. Mac. You are creative, stylish, and super trendy.
You are a bit obsessed with gadgets, and you like owning the newest devices. You aren’t the type of person who separates work from pleasure. In your opinion, all work should be fun. You love creating.
Aesthetics are very important to you. You like to be surrounded by beautiful, sleek things. You demand the best – even if it costs an arm and a leg.

I definitely, definitely don’t think anyone needs an iPhone if they have an iPad. I use my iPad like 20 times as much, at least. My iPhone is old – back from my pre-iPad days. And my first cellphone was a Nokia. They are totally indestructible – I agree!

I got the result of Android 😀 The explanation goes awesome. It’s totally me. However I am more inclined towards Windows phones 🙂
    The latest ones are cool.
I guess that would have been cool to include another option in the quiz 🙂

    1. You Are Android. Rather true, though I definitely don’t have a head for engineering. 😛 I do like fantasy, a good pizza and documentaries!
    2. I like having a smartphone, just not super complicated 😛
    3. Make calls..I always worry about being in a situation where I don’t have a phone and really need one..
    4. You Are a Mac. Mac ftw! Haha

I worry about not being able to make an emergency call as well. Although most people I’d call are possibly easier to reach via email 😉

1 & 2. I got “You are an iPhone” and if I could afford it, I’d for sure have one! (As it is, I have a stupid phone and an iPod touch!) But I would never stand on line for a new gadget–and I prefer documentaries to dramas, and while I do love indie pop, I don’t like literary fiction much! 🙂

    3. Oh, gee, what use is only one of those? I can do without texting, but I can’t choose between the other two!

    4. I got “You are a Mac” and yes–finances permitting!

I think I could definitely do without texting too! I am lucky (I think?) to not have many friends or family who like to talk on the phone, so I could mostly do without voice calls. I tend to keep up with people via email, even my parents.
