New Quiz: Where Should You Send a Postcard From?

Are you the type to send a postcard from Moscow?

When was the last time you sent a postcard from a trip? I admit, it’s been a while for me, but it’s a habit I’d like to get back into. In this very digital age, I’m sort of obsessed with print mementos – as silly as they might be. I love the idea of a friend or family member having a collection of postcards from my trips… and having my own collection from theirs.

When I was younger, postcard shopping and sending was a part of every vacation. And I miss that routine. Usually I would do it on the last day I was on a trip, as things were winding down. Or I’d pick an especially rainy or dreary afternoon to write out my cards. I liked the chance each postcard gave me to reflect on the trip and my relationship to the recipient.

I also enjoyed the process of postcard shopping. It took me into stores I would have otherwise not entered, and it made me consider more aspects of the place I was visiting. I even sometimes ended up changing my itinerary based on what I saw on various postcards. There was inevitably some interesting monument or park I hadn’t yet visited.

I got London. “You’re the type of person who doesn’t have much of an agenda when you travel.” I always have an agenda. I can’t help it. I do want to just relax and absorb but I also don’t want to waste precious time. “You prefer to take each day as it comes. You like to be at a leisurely pace and explore your surroundings casually.” This is true but I also want to cram in as much as possible. I just don’t have the means to travel as much as I’d like that would facilitate a little now and a little later. “You enjoy both doing touristy and non-touristy things on vacation. You are there, at least partially, to see the sites.
You like to visit somewhere that has a lot to do, because you never can be sure what you’ll be in the mood for once you’re there.”
I Don’t believe I’ve ever sent a postcard. I think I might like to send a postcard one day. Maybe from my dream vacation. I have received postcards before but none from the destination I dream of.

I went back to see what the other results were and looked at Rome because I want to go. I really should have gotten Rome. That sounds like me too. I think I need 2 visits everywhere. The touristy first visit and a second leisure visit.

I think I need to visit Rome twice as well. I’ve never been to Italy, but I’m dying to go. At the very least, I think I would enjoy the food 🙂

You Should Send a Postcard from London

I’ve never been to London, but having grown up in a big city, they don’t seem as big a novelty to me.

“You’re the type of person who doesn’t have much of an agenda when you travel. You like to simply take in a city.
You live enough of a life of schedules, and having a routine during a trip would just stress you out.”

I do tend to live a life without sweating the details. I do have goals I make sure to accomplish, but it’s too stressful to be like that all the time.

“You prefer to take each day as it comes. You like to be at a leisurely pace and explore your surroundings casually.”

I do love exploring, especially when I have plenty of time to do so.

“You enjoy both doing touristy and non-touristy things on vacation. You are there, at least partially, to see the sites.
You like to visit somewhere that has a lot to do, because you never can be sure what you’ll be in the mood for once you’re there.”

I tend to ditch the touristy areas when traveling, but do return for some food and shopping.

“London is the perfect place for a wanderer like you to explore. It’s very walking friendly and easy to get around.
You’d enjoy the shopping, culture, street activity, and maybe even the changing of the guard. And you’d have plenty of little places to stop in to buy that postcard.”

Could be if you like cities. I like exploring the wilderness a bit more. 🙂

When was the last time you sent a postcard?

Honestly, I don’t remember. But I do want to start sending them again.

Do you still like to send postcards, or do you do something a little more modern?

I like to, I swear, but I got out of the habit 😉

Is there anywhere in the world you’ve seen on a postcard and would like to visit? Where?

    Shanghai!
