I’ve been noticing recently that there are two types of tech toy people – iPhone people and iPad people. (Or if you’d like, smartphone people and tablet people.) I fall firmly in the second camp. I have a smartphone, but I don’t use it all that much. In fact, I often let the battery drain down, and I’m infamous for missing calls and texts. My tablet, on the other hand, is always with me. If I’m not working on Blogthings, I can often be found surfing the web on my tablet.
Very few of my friends are also tablet people, and by observing them, I’ve definitely noticed the personality differences between tablet people and smartphone people. Tablet people like myself seem to be quieter, more into being a homebody, plodding, literary… Smartphone people tend to be more outgoing and on the go. They are creative in their own way, but they tend to be more music and photography types.
These differences make sense to me as one device is portable and one is less so. Plus, smartphones all have built in internet, while a lot of tablets only use wifi. So if you want to be out and about taking photos of your friends, an iPhone makes sense. But if you’re more like me – the lounge around the house reading a book type – you might prefer an iPad.
