New Quiz: Are You a Rule Breaker or a Rule Maker?

Woman peeking out from under wild hair

Do you like to follow the rules?

Do you like to follow the rules? I’ll admit that I’m a begrudging rule follower. I have the heart of a rebel, and it’s my first instinct to want to ignore and break all rules. However, I’ve learned that breaking the rules can be stressful, so I usually just follow the rules anyway. I suppose that I’m a wannabe rule breaker – at least when it comes to the law.

When it comes to less set in stone rules, I’m a total rule breaker. I have been working on Blogthings for almost ten years, even though people nag me to get a “real job.” (Too late – I’m hooked!) I also broke the rules by doing my education a bit differently than most I know. Oh, and by marrying Mr. Blogthings only after we had been dating a few weeks.

So yeah, I’m no lawbreaker, but I’m not so big on rules. I try to set as few rules for myself as possible. They’re too constricting. I admire, but can never understand, friends who go on very strict diets, fitness regimins, or budgets. It doesn’t seem like a lot of fun to me. I prefer to trust myself and take it how it comes. If I mess up a bit with my health or finances, maybe I’ll overcompensate a bit. No biggie.

    1. You Are a Rule Shaker

You generally follow the rules, but every now and then you like to shake things up a bit.
You are both a rule maker and a rule breaker. You appreciate rules, but you also think they should be questioned.

You think rules generally promote social order, and you’re in favor of them – in principle.
You also know, though, that rules can become outdated or irrelevant. You are willing to break a rule if you think there is cause to.

You maintain flexibility with the rules you set up for yourself and others in your life. You aren’t too strict about anything.
In your opinion, there is always a middle ground. It’s often best just to use your judgment instead of following a particular rule.

    2. Flexibility
    3. I don’t cross the street at the stoplight
    4. No looking for loopholes (except in emergency situations)

    1. I got “You Are a Rule Shaker” and I think that is exactly true.

    2. I prefer a balance between rules and flexibility–and I want to know the reasons for the rules.

    3. I sometimes break rules for a greater good–so it depends on the rules, the reasons for the rules, and the reasons for breaking them.

    4. Care about others.

You’re right. I like to follow rules, but they SHOULD be questioned. I need to know why that rule is, well, a rule! I’m really flexible towards rules but at times they need to be broken for balance! Rules are what make everyone a little uptight sometimes even me!

I got rule shaker… That was absolutely true about me. I like rules, they’re good as a guidelines, but I don’t think they should be followed so strictly. In my experience, there are times when certain rules became so (as you said) outdated and irrelevant, that they required just a little ‘shaking’ πŸ™‚

I prefer lots of flexibility… I like order, but order should not ‘kill freedom’, so to speak…

I;ve broken some rules, of course… None too serious or dangerous, just a little mischief here and there… πŸ˜€

If I could make everyone follow a rule, the rule would be ‘everyone must respect each other’s choices and value of life the same way they would expect their choices and value of life to be respected’, if that could even be called a rule… πŸ™‚

Anyway, thanks for this good quiz!

One criticism, though….. From the quiz title, I imagine this wold be a yes-no quiz, with only two results. I am surprised to see it actually has four different results. I would suggest a quiz title change, like ‘What is you attitude towards rule?’ or something….

Nice analysis! I definitely agree about outdated and irrelevant rules.

Hahaha, you are probably right about the quiz title πŸ™‚ I just was trying to jazz it up a bit πŸ˜‰
