Quiz: What Childhood Game Are You?

What game did you play as a kid?

Did you do a lot of playing when you were a kid? I sure did! I’m surprised how few kids play outside these days in my area of the world. I know that parents are worried about safety, which I can understand. However, I feel sorry for kids that aren’t able to freely play and explore a neighborhood the way I was able to. My best memories of childhood are having a full day with my friends (or even by myself) and being able to do whatever I wanted.

We played constantly when I was growing up in the 80s, and some days I would only see my mom at lunch… I’d be too busy out with my friends. I grew up in sunny Colorado, so I was able to play outside most days. Even when it snowed, the snow would melt quickly – and we’d be back out to playing. And during summer vacation the weather was perfect… it was never too hot to play.

When I was a young kid, I enjoyed all sorts of games – both made up and more formal games. I also loved riding my bike and swimming. Another one of my favorite activities was going down to the local elementary school during the weekend and either playing basketball or using the jungle gym equipment. I had a fun childhood with all of my neighborhood friends, and I still look back on those days fondly.

Thinking about all the fun I had as a kid inspired me to write What Childhood Game Are You? It’s a quick quiz that asks you a bit about what sort of kid you were and then tells you which game best fits your personality. Give it whirl, and let me know what you get. What do you think of your result? Does it fit who you were as a kid?

What do you think?

    You Are Hopscotch

You are easygoing and carefree. You like to play, but you don’t really like to compete.
You prefer to cooperate with others. You like to work with people … not against them!

You have a childlike innocence and optimism that is worth holding on to.
You find happiness easily. You can get pleasure from the smallest things.

i love hopscotch! 🙂 plus i teach pre-k for a living, so i think this is pretty true; and it lets me be an adult only when necessary!

    You Are Rock-Paper-Scissors

You are very smart and mentally inclined person. You like games that test your brainpower.
You are good at noticing patterns and making predictions. You can size other people up well.

It may not seem like there’s a lot to what you do, but you have a strategy for everything.
You tend to think through every decision you make carefully, but you’re also sure not to over think anything.

Actually I’m not that good at noticing patterns and making predictions (unless it’s happened enough times for me to figure certain people out and predict what they’ll likely say), I’m more the type to make things up as I go along.
