Quiz: How Should You Stay Warm?

indoor fireplace with a fire inside

Would a fire keep you warm?

You guys, I’m freezing! Around freezing temperature is where I start to feel miserable and chilly, and that’s what I’ve got going on right now. I know, I know… I am a total baby. But I can’t help dreaming of tropical islands ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t mind a little cold, but gosh darnit, you better give me some rain or snow with it. I’m not a big fan of sunny but cold weather. What’s the fun in that?

It has been difficult for me to stay warm today, and I’m finally getting a little toasty. I threw on my favorite warm pjs, slippers (mandatory in the winter) and a warm sweater. I’m also baking my hopefully soon to be famous sweet potato apple pecan muffins. (Super simple – mix a can of sweet potatoes with apple muffin mix and pecans.) Having the oven on always warms up the house a little. I’ll probably have a little tea later, as that’s another mandatory get warm activity.

All this freezing has got me thinking that I sure could use a fireplace right now! And thinking of a fireplace reminds me of a favorite quiz:ย How Should You Stay Warm?ย Writing this quiz made me feel super cozy, and every time I take it, that feeling comes back to me. (Make sure you take it while under a warm blanket for full effect!)

Go ahead and takeย How Should You Stay Warm?ย Let me know what you get, and also let me know what your favorite way of staying warm is. I have a few creative ways for staying warm:

  • Cuddling with my dog
  • Knitting something big like a blanket
  • Wearing a hat inside
  • Drinking a spicy hot chocolate
  • Taking a plane somewhere warm (haha, just kidding about that one Mr. Blogthings – no surprise trips, I swear)
  • Take a super hot, steamy shower

My dog earns his keep with cuddling ๐Ÿ˜‰ I do enjoy a luxurious bath too… because our water heater is outside (I know, don’t ask!), the water is extra hot when it’s cold out.

I am very in touch with my emotions, and the quiz confirmed this. I once told a herbalist i had consulted that I felt I was hypersensitive as a child [they had asked me to describe myself as a child]. She didn’t seem surprised, in fact she replied: Yes, I thought as much. I think you have 2 protective layers less than most people.
It can be a blessing, but like all things, it has a negative side and can be a curse, too. But, I think I would rather be this way. After all, if you stop feeling in one direction, chances are you stop feeling in all directions. Emotions aren’t something you can switch on and off. You either feel, or you don’t. Simple as.

Oh wow! That’s a really interesting analysis.

As a hypersensitive person, I relate a lot to what you’re saying. I think I’m happy that I’m hypersensitive, but it’s definitely a bit of a challenge at times ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Kari, yes, it can be a burden sometimes, but it also makes you the sort of person who is able to show empathy – that has to be good. In a world where so many listen with half an ear and self interest, at least being hypersensitive makes us good listeners. As I said to my friend once, when he said perhaps I cared too much: wars are never started by people caring too much – quite the opposite, actually.
Keep on as you are, Kari, it’s what probably draws others to you.

Awww, thanks so much for your kind words. I really appreciate them.

I agree that we hypersensitive types are great listeners, and we can give the world the gift of compassion. The world could use with a lot more sensitivity ๐Ÿ™‚

You are welcome. i love these quizzes. It’s so nice to get an insight into your deeper self, and to be able to share the results with others. I always do them in magazines, so it’s nice to do them on line now.

You Should Stay Warm by Building a Fire

You are an independent, self starting type of person. You are quick to act and make decisions.
You wouldn’t just sit around and be cold… you’d make sure and do something about it.

You are a natural leader. You like to be around other people, and you usually end up directing things.
You are usually fearless. And when you are afraid, you try to confront your fears. You aren’t about to be intimidated by a bit of fire.

Comment: Am a bit afraid of fire itself, so wouldn’t build it… otherwise, the analysis fits.

My favourite way to stay warm: Drinking a good cup of tea & curling up with my indigo blue blanket in my armchair at home…

That sounds like a lovely way to stay warm!

I have built a few fires in my life coming from a more rural place in the US, but I always rather someone else do it ๐Ÿ™‚
